Setting up a new pen name

Two weeks ago, I finished a nonfiction book for a new pen name, and I’m slowly working at getting to the point where it’s ready to publish.

Setting up a new pen name takes:

  • An idea for a series in a category.
  • Writing book one.
  • Getting the book proofed.
  • Finding a title.
  • Writing a description.
  • Getting a cover.
  • Installing a blog (I chose WordPress).
  • Setting up an autoresponder.
  • Setting up an opt-in form.
  • Writing the first mail.
  • Adding content to the blog.
  • Publishing the first book.

I do a little each day, and each point takes maybe five minutes, except for writing the book, which takes only two.

Days 😀

Today, I reached the autoresponder point and thought, Hm…. What should I do? I’m not ready to invest in an autoresponder for this pen name, before I know if it takes off or not. So I installed a free plugin called MailPoet, which I use with my server’s email. Nothing to set up other than the plugin. Easy.

Next point on the list is the content, but I already have some to use. Did you know that you might already have content for an author blog yourself?

That is only one of the things I share inside my book, Your Author Blog.
